Pellgen are a small family run firm of specialist renewable energy appliance installers. The company was founded in 2005 when a gap in the local market was seen for an installer of solar thermal hot water systems, after several months of research and training to get the necessary qualifications for the installations the company started trading as Yorkshire Solar.

Following on from one early installation the Client asked whether we knew anyone who could install the new wood pellet boiler he had bought and had shipped in from the continent - being experienced plumbers we said we would sort it out for him, and from that point we became pioneers in the domestic wood pellet industry.

Two major steps forward for the company happened in 2009, we formed ourselves into a Limited Company - Pellgen Ltd - though kept the Yorkshire Solar name as a trading style, and we gained our MCS accreditation for solar thermal and biomass making us one of the few MCS accredited biomass installers in the North of England.

As the demand for renewable energy appliances has grown we have moved into other technologies, Solar PV, Heat pumps and wind turbines as well as biomass and solar thermal, and so are able to advise potential Customers on the best renewable technologies to suit both their property and their budget.

As well as domestic customers also deal with public sector bodies and community groups, we have done installations for Northern Rail, local authorities and the Forestry Commission as well as social housing and village halls.

We are heavily involved with the development of the market for renewable energy appliances and regularly make presentations at conferences, seminars and 'Green Open Days' to put the case for renewables into the green energy debate.

We regularly have stands at the Yorkshire Show and the Homebuilding and Renovation Show in Harrogate, as well as as many of the local 'Green Fairs' as we can manage to get to.
